Oh God, someone even sang the high part towards the end!

AJ and I have been marathoning seasons 2 and 3 of Lost (been out of the loop for two years), and we're nearly done with Season 3! I wonder if I'll be ticked off with all the cliffhangers once we're caught up? Probably. But for now it's fun, it gives me something to look forward to while working through each day.

Hey, a question for people who've worked Artist's Alleys in conventions: I've been invited to share a table with someone (woo) at Megacon in March, but I've never done anything like this. What should I focus on more, selling prints or trying to sell commissioned sketches? For that matter, do I need to know how to draw characters off the top of my head (like your Narutos and Inu Yashas or what have you), or...are references provided? That sounds unlikely, but I wondered anyway! Should I make a list of stuff I know how to draw?

This process is all crazy to me ahhhhhh D:

it took me until they actually said "mmmm what cha say" before I could even tell what the hell the song was. That's the only part I know of it D:

I wish they'd cool it with those...but then I guess the show would lose it's steam. <3

Well, since mega is more sci-fi I wouldn't expect to get too too much business. However, if you do some quick practice sketches of common sci fi characters you'll be good to go. In fact, maybe do some sketches of these popular sci-fi characters and make some prints of them to take with?
Just a suggestion.
But, as for your other question, Yes. You'll need to know how to draw stuff off the top of your head. Not many people will provide you with a picture, so you'll definitely need to study the popular characters before heading to mega!

And splitting a table sounds like a good idea. A whole table is expensive! Plus, artist's alley is at the back of the dealer's room, where not a whole lot of people even go. Just a heads up. Tables at artist's alley can really go both ways- good or bad. So definitely split a table and don't get your own to maximize profits! =D

In fact, print out a few refrence photos and take them with you so you can have them at hand if need be!

I'm like 90% sure! Steve said I can bring Ringo, Miso and Tofu to the hotel room, so that's a relief! I still want to visit with you cool people for the week, so I hope its okay if I bring them?

Yay!!! ^_^
There will be homework going on for me throughout the week off and on, but it will be nice to be in a different setting, and I so hope to hit one of the disney or universal parks, because it's been YEARS since the last time!

Oh, on a side note, do you still have the animation you did of your bubble gum escaping? I have a friend who I know would get a big kick outta it, if its okay to link him to it (if its online?).

Ahhh no, I never quite finished it (it's only like 20 frames from being done, LAAAZY), so it never made it to the internet. >___>

So, I wrote this long comment yesterday, then livejournal eated it, so I'm just going to summarize:

1. Sell prints AND do sketches.
2. If you want some superhero reference, check out the $1 bins. There are thousands of them. Stock up on group books (JLA, Avengers, X-Men) for economy.
3. It is not impolite if someone asks you to draw an obscure character for you to ask them to bring you reference. This gets harder to do if they ask you to draw Spider-Man.
4. I got a lot of requests from people to draw them. I don't know if this is standard or if it's just because I have a rather cartoony style. So you may want to think about your answer to this request ahead of time.
5. Like I said last year, you deserve to be behind a table way more than I do, so you should definitely do this! I can't wait to see you there!

yeah, like I've said before, you'll do very well. Your portfolio is pretty universal , Im sure a lot of guys will be interested in your works ^^. one big thing that I dont suggest to do that many do and get upset aobout it. dont all of a sudden do a buch of fan art in the very last min (like 2 weeks before the con) you're works are amazing and you will get noticed.

OOo, neato!! You're going to Megacon? I was thinking about going but it's a tad far for me. If I do go, maybe you can make me a sketch in person? :D

I'll pay youuuu XD

Sure! :p I was told that doing sketch commissions was a good idea, so I think I'm gonna go for it.
