Paul Dini/Dustin Nguyen aren't going to be on Detective Comics anymore. :/ Not only was reading the title like watching the old show (since Paul Dini was also a writer on TAS), Nyguyen's covers and interiors were always marvelous! If you're not familiar with his art, take a quick look. Classay, ain't it?

Apparently when it resumes it's possibly going to be about Batgirl, or Batwoman or something, and AJ told me of some speculation about Oracle finding a cure so she could be Batgirl again. I think it's all guessing right now, but if it's true then that. would. be. so stupid.

I don't like reading comics month to month because it's too easy to forget little (but important) parts of the story, and having to refresh each time is a pain, but Detective Comics was episodic enough to avoid that problem. Also, I care so so little about any of the big events in the DC universe (HAUGHBLAUGH ANTILIFE EQUATION DUR BATMAN DEAD DUR MORRISON CAVEMEN).

The only other stuff I have to keep reading is Secret Six and Fables, since Birds of Prey is also no more, and Runaways kinda bored me after a while (even though B.K. Vaughan is the man, I'm sorry [info]rayerai >___>).

Does anyone wanna cry with me? ;_;

What happened to Batman was an absolute joke. Final Crisis needs a companion book just to clarify what in the hell is going on half the time. And the last page isn't even clear on weather the caveman whose back was turned to the view point was supposed to be Batman or just a caveman inspired by the Batman stuff in the rocket Lois Lane launched. My only consolation is nothing this stupid will ever last for more than a year before being undone, and the whole mess will hopefully be forgotten in 5 years.

It just sucks that ret-conning has to exist! :/ But I too feel that consolation.

My knowledge of events within Final Crisis is secondhand, and maybe a bit biased as it's from my roommate who has a strong dislike for Grant Morrison. It's his belief that no editors ever tell him when he's writing a bad story, and that he ignores continuity because he's too self-absorbed in his own, and I was read a quote where he essentially told Final Crisis Haters, 'If you don't like it you're too dumb to get it' etc.

Bias aside, from every single thing he told me and the plotpoints you listed above, the whole thing is stupid. Why did it have to sell so well, why is THAT what people want? ...SORRY my elitist is showing >_>

The ONLY comic series I'm still reading is Fables. I should really still be reading the green arrow and black canary series, but I'm scared they're going to screw it up, as the first ten issues or so were so wonderful.

Don't even get me started on batman being killed. WHO DOES THAT. What delightful writer goes 'hey you know what would be good? if we killed batman off so future writers who grew up loving batman can't use him nyah nyah'. Which is why I reckon they left an out with TIMETRAVELBATMAN which is also lame.

Runaways had a really REALLY good run while they were in victorian new york I think it was. THey had a great artist for that. And then they picked up Terry Moore. And it should ahve been perfect! Only they switched to the world's most awful artist ever. I don't even know her name but the characters don't even look like themselves anymore!

Wait, they ended Birds of Prey? D:

Apparently Grant Morrison and Dan DiDio are the delightful ones who do this! AJ said, "If they don't have an article about it in the NY Times, he's not really dead."

And yeah, DC announced BoP's cancellation. ;___;

They go to Victorian New York in Runaways? How did that happen?? I stopped reading but didn't end up hating it or anything, the characters just didn't uh....speak to me. The magegirl, the alien, the dinogirl and Chase all had sarcasm and witty retorts and it felt like a Buffy episode (this was before Joss Whedon was on the book).

Dinogirl's parents had a time machi--- ohhh dear you stopped reading before something spoilerish happened that i can't tell you about because i know that now that I've mentioned victorian new york you'll start reading it again. And it's worth it to get there, just for the art on that arc.

That said, after that it goes uh... very very wrong.

The Final Crisis of Mathematics was really bad, you're right. And it looks like the Batman stuff will now go through a period like after Superman's death: there will now be more caped crusaders than ever! ... And then Batman comes back.

Detective Comics is just another casualty.

I hope it doesn't end up a casualty - maybe the writer on the new Detective Comics will do a great job, maybe Batwoman will end up being very well-written. Aw well, I'm done with this lament~~

I loves me some DC! Maybe that's cause I'm part of it. :-P

PS- I don't know if you still come up and visit but if so you should come to the park (I'll probably be playing either Wonder Woman or Cheetah). I def have enough tickets!

(To be honest, DC comics just don't captivate me like they used to- but don't tell my employers that, haha)

I enjoy and love Grant Morrison's work on Batman R.I.P and Final Crisis, those are stories that explore the deep imagination.
